WILDCOAST, in coordination with the German agency GIZ, has been supporting Mexico’s Commission for Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) in the conservation of ecologically important beaches and mangroves in the Gulf of California through conservation concessions. On January 15, 2016, for the first time in history, it was announced in Mexico’s Official Federation Journal, that this effort has resulted in the conservation of 2,011.28 acres of mangroves located in Las Animas island, in Sinaloa, México.  With this agreement, we have guaranteed the conservation of important mangrove habitat that will continue to bring countless benefits to local communities, fishermen, wildlife and tourism.

Congratulations to the state of Sinaloa, the municipality of Ahome, and CONANP for this victory to conserve our natural resources!
