On Wednesday, August 3rd WiLDCOAST’s Clean Water Now campaign reached out to 25 local youth by presenting to the Imperial Beach Junior Lifeguards. The Jr. Lifeguards spend weekdays training on IB’s beach and learn lifesaving skills, water safety, and ocean appreciation. WiLDCOAST’s presentation explained the root causes of IB’s ocean pollution and consequent beach closures.  The group learned that IB is an important part of the Tijuana Watershed and about bi-national water quality issues.  Most importantly, the Jr. Lifeguards were encouraged to become environmental stewards by getting involved with coastal conservation. The youth were enthusiastic to join our fight for clean water and collaborate on future WiLDCOAST projects.
