WiLDCOAST Attends 7th Annual Mexican National Clean Beaches Conference

Significant efforts being done to improve beach water quality at Mexican beaches

From August 18th-20th WiLDCOAST attended the Mexican National Clean Beaches Conference in Mazatlan, Mexico convened by the National Water Commission.

The conference was convened in order to exchange successful experiences among the Mexican Local Clean Beaches Committees and share the investments and work being done by the multiple agencies on sanitation, solid waste disposal, monitoring water quality, research, training, culture and water standards that are conducted in Mexico’s coastal destinations under the Clean Beaches Program. Topics discussed included conservation and restoration of wetlands, local clean beaches committee working groups, water quality monitoring and eco-tourism and community organizing for conservation. Officials from local, state and federal level government agencies alongside members of the academia, and non-government organizations attended the event.
