It’s going to be a busy fall but we are excited to get dirty, get in the field and visit some of the amazing communities in which we have been working.

I am heading back to the Los Cirios coast this weekend to explore opportunities with a local fish camp to cleanup and manage trash disposal in the region. Although the road is long and windy and I’ll be spending hours lurching about in our 4x4 it will be great to be immersed in undisturbed nature for a few days. I hope the Osprey, Peregrine Falcons and Sea Lions will be as happy to see me as I am to see them.

I’ll barely have enough time to clean the dust out of my ears before WiLDCOAST is off to Punta Abreojos in Baja California Sur for their annual surfing competition that we support. This is one of the highlights of the year. I didn’t make it down in 2010 but in previous years there has been an awesome combination of stoked local grommets, swell, festivities and amazing community involvement. I am certain that this year’s event will be another success and showcase more than ever before the local surfing talent and the community’s compassion for their coastal environment.

And right around the corner is WiLDCOAST’s 8th Annual Dempsey Holder Memorial Ocean Festival and Surf Contest in Imperial Beach. Once again we hold competition on both sides of the iconic I.B. pier so keep your fingers crossed for some south swell.

I am off to load up the trusty WiLDCOAST Baja mobile for our voyage down south. It’s going to be an early departure and my stomach butterflies are already fluttering. Stay tuned for stories and photos.
