Tijuana River Action Month a Huge Success!!
A photo essay by Paloma Aguirre
Tijuana River Action Month/Mes de Accion del Rio Tijuana, a binational inclusive event, consisted of a month-long series of stewardship and cleanup events during September and October to benefit the Tijuana River Watershed.
This period is critical since it is a very small window of opportunity between the end of bird nesting season and the beginning of the rain season to enter the Tijuana River Valley and remove as much ocean-bound trash as possible.
It had two goals:
To mobilize a record number of community volunteers and groups to protect, restore and become stewards of the Tijuana River Watershed through targeted activities and;
To recognize key efforts and investments by public and private agencies, non-profits and community groups to protect and restore the Tijuana River.
Below are the logos of the partner organizations, agencies and corporations who supported this record breaking effort.
