On Thursday October 4th, 2012 in Ensenada Baja California, WiLDCOAST presented the "Role of Civil Society in Water Policies" at the 8th Annual Clean Beaches Conference convened by the Mexican National Water Commission. The National Water Commission is a federal agency that regulates all bodies of water and watersheds in Mexico. WiLDCOAST had the opportunity to present to federal, state and local government officials the importance of involving the civil sector when addressing water quality issues, creating water policy changes and reaching conservation goals. WiLDCOAST discussed the importance of binational collaboration to address pollution from the shared Tijuana River Watershed.

Carmen Romo from Tijuana-based NGO Tijuana Calidad de Vida presented the binational accomplishments achieved by non-profits from both sides of the border when addressing solid waste removal from local watersheds and beaches, including the binational Tijuana River Action Month effort.
