The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health has issued a General Advisory for all San Diego beaches. Ocean users are strongly advised to avoid beachwater contact for at least 72 hrs after the last rain event. Of special concern are south San Diego beaches, which can be impacted by effluent from the Tijuana River. The Tijuana River can carry an array of pathogens and viruses not commonly found in most rivers.

Border Field State Park and Tijuana River Wildlife Refuge beaches remain CLOSED. These beaches have been closed since January 1, 2013 due to Tijuana River pollution.
