Third Annual Discover OVPR Day A Great Success!

Thank you to everyone who came out and participated for the biggest OVRP Day yet!
The crowd watching Eric Runningpath do his Native American dance.

WILDCOAST had a fantastic day out at the Beyer Blvd Ranger Station for the third annual Discover OVRP Day.  We kicked off the event with City of San Diego Mayor Bob Filner speaking on the importance of open space and the OVRP.  As soon as the marine layer burned off the event really got underway, with some incredible Native America dance by Eric Running Path, interactive animal displays with the Bureau of Land Management, Living Coast Discovery Center and of course Project Wildlife.  Interactive stewardship activities put on by the City of San Diego Think Blue and I Love A Clean San Diego were also a hit.

Participants, from the Girl Scouts to elected officials, were able to learn about the OVRP, Storm water management, restoration activities and sign up for future clean ups and stewardship activities in the OVRP, as well as win some items in a raffle.   Some of our great speakers for the event were City of San Diego Councilmember David Alvarez of District 8, City of Chula Vista Councilmember Pamela Bensoussan and Mayor Bob Filner.  County Supervisor Greg Cox and Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox also stopped by to enjoy the activities.

Thank you again to our supporters:  District 8 and CM David Alvarez, REI, Living Coast Discovery Center, Terra Bella Nursery and Bicycle Warehouse Chula Vista.

Hope to see you there next year!

We will be having a cleanup on June 13th in the OVRP with some participants who signed up at OVRP Day, email us is you would like to participate!
