Celebrating with Iconic Wrestler El Hijo del Santo for National Oceans Month

Fay Crevoshay

El Hijo del Santo joined students on a fun filled day of kayaking, surfing, snorkeling and tide pooling in one of the richest and most diverse marine ecosystems in California: the Matlahuayl State Marine Reserve, formerly know as the “La Jolla Shores Underwater Park.”

Students enjoyed the wonders of San Diego’s best natural resources it has to offer, while at the same time, learning about the importance of conserving special places like the Matlahuayl MPA so future generations can enjoy it too.

WILDCOAST has been working for over 5 years with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to strategically established science-based Marine Protected Areas across the state of California, from the border of Mexico to the border of Oregon. WILDCOAST has been at the front line in introducing and educating these areas to the large Latino constituency in San Diego.
