A recent decision by the US EPA supports the restoration of channelized rivers. The Tijuana River is being targeted for more concrete flood control channels. These projects need to be stopped. We should take a lesson from the LA River and not repeat the mistakes of the past. We need to restore our rivers, not encase them in concrete.

From decades of overfished waters, Cabo Pulmo, Baja Mexico suffered until government action helped make Cabo Pulmo one of the most successful examples of conservation in Mexico. However, the same government once responsible for protecting and reviving this extremely important ecosystem is now granting permission to an enormous development project- Cabo Cortés- that will destroy the only living coral reef in the northern part of the American continent.
