Why: Storm water flows into the Tijuana River carry tons of trash and
pollutants into the Tijuana River Valley Regional Park and local beaches.
Years of accumulated trash have prevented South San Diego residents from
utilizing many of our trails for recreational purposes such as walking,
horse-back riding, bicycling, and hiking. The trash and contamination are a
serious environmental, public health, and economic threat to South San
Diego, so it is a great time to get together as a community and clean and
restore them for healthy use.
We are expecting a large group of volunteers from business owners, ranchers,
environmentalists, families, surfers, students, and elected officials
(Supervisor Cox, Councilman Hueso, and Senator Ducheny, are confirmed.
The event is being supported by the Tijuana River Citizens' Council,
WiLDCOAST, Surfrider San Diego, Tijuana River Valley Equestrian Association,
REI, Patagonia, and Allied Waste.
Please contact WiLDCOAST if you have any questions. (619) 423-8665 ext. 208
