The sea is an essential part of life on this planet and we depend on it in many ways.
Unfortunately pollution, poorly planned development ofthe coast, overfishing and a lack of administration threaten this treasure. The ocean is losing its ability to regenerate. Fishermen are forced to go further out into the ocean only to find smaller fish in lesser quantities.
Nature is a powerful force, but aggressive fishing technologies are limiting the recovery capacity of the sea and its inhabitants. Destructive fishing practices, like drag nets that convert the bottom of the ocean into a desert only add to the problem. If we do not take immediate action, it will be too late because some of the sea destruction is irreversible.
