The event will consist of a series of activities in October 2010, starting on September 25th with cleanups every Saturday during the month of October, to take advantage of the window of opportunity between the end of the nesting season and the start of the rainy season.
WiLDCOAST along with other organizations, fishermen, divers and surfers worked together with The Baum Foundation and Coyote Films to create: A Sheltered Sea—The Southern Passage.
The film is about the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) Initiative along the California coast.
The Southern Passage features the collective benefits and challenges of creating a network of underwater parks, or Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), that protect and sustain marine ecosystems and shows how MPAs can positively effect all people, from environmental groups to the fishing industry alike.
