Dempsey Holder Ocean Festival and Surf Contest

November 07, 2015

12th Annual Dempsey Holder Ocean Festival flyer

Join WILDCOAST on Saturday, November 7th for our Annual Dempsey Holder Surf Contest, an amateur surf contest honoring the memory of legendary waterman, big-wave surfing pioneer, and lifeguard Allan “Dempsey” Holder! This is the the second part of the Baja Bound Surf Series. Proceeds from the event support WILDCOAST’s efforts to protect our coast and ocean.

The Dempsey Holder surf contest represents the local heritage of surf lifestyle and coastal stewardship in Imperial Beach and stretching down the Pacific coast to Baja California. The contest features the next generation of surfers competing today.

Date: Saturday, November 7th

Time: 7 am - 4 pm.

Location: North side of the Imperial Beach Pier, in the city of Imperial Beach, California

Directions: From the 5 FWY exit Palm Avenue west, turn left on Seacoast Drive. The Imperial Beach Pier is a few blocks south on Evergreen Avenue (click here for map).

Parking: Street parking in residential neighborhoods and some public lots are also available near the pier. We do advised to get to the event early to find parking since weekends are usually busy days at the beach.

Bathrooms & Shower: Amenities are available at the beaches around the pier.

Heat Schedule: Information on heat times will be posted on our website and at our offices on Friday, November 6th in the afternoon. If you are not able to check your heat times the night before, we advise you to get to the surf contest before 7 am to be ready to surf your waves!

Unfortunately due to the date change of the event the Ocean Festival is canceled this year but we hope to have an even bigger festival and surf contest next year!
